Rory McIlroy was at the official opening of the new golf facilities in June 2009.  In conjunction with the CAFRE and the Golfing Union of Ireland (Ulster), acres of the campus have been designed and developed to now be one of the best training facilities on the island of Ireland.   Recognized as outstanding, the facilities are utilised for golf training by the R&A, University of Ulster, GUI and ILGU.

Long Game

Technology

GASP System Video Coaching Software is the market leader in golf swing analysis video software.  The video software allows you to isolate key faults in the golf swing and compare your swing to a PGA professional.

K-Vest is revolutionizing how physical motion is measured via 3D biodynamic swing analysis.  K-vest motion censored technology is used to pin point areas of improvement required on the golf swing.

Multiple Training Aids are used to enhance the learning experience.  E.g.  Impact Ball, Leaderboard Swing Trainer, Alignment Sticks, Foam Roller, balance pads, etc.

Facilities·

8-Bay Driving Range which has been designed on the driving range at Carlton House.

Coaching Studio which houses the aforementioned technology and includes two fully enclosed indoor/outdoor bays.

3-Hole Course with a fantastic layout that you would expect to find on a Championship Golf Course.  A great facility for testing your long game and assessing course management.

Short Game

Technology

C-Swing Video Analysis Software is utilised to analyse all aspects of the short game.

TOMI Putting Software System is the latest in putter technology from Pure Motion Sports, which analyses critical parameters of your putting stroke.

Multiple Training Aids are used to enhance the learning experience.  E.g. putting alignment mirrors, alignment shafts, putting plane and putting track aids.

Facilities

USPGA Spec 80x40 Yard Green which is well drained and is open 12 months of the year.  It has six greenside bunkers.  The undulating green allows a vast variety of different shots to be played (e.g. high lobs, long and short sand, putting, chipping, and pitch shots) shots, from around the green.

3 Additional Practice Greens to sharpen your short game skills.  All greens are blessed with greenside bunkers and one of the greens has a 120 yard fairway to practice your short irons.

3-Hole Course with a fantastic layout that you would expect to find on a Championship Golf Course.  A great facility for testing your short game and assessing course management.

Fitness

Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is a golf specific programme in which golfers are put through a complete array of tests to assess their flexibility, mobility, stability, strength, and balance.  Each golfer receives a ‘golf fitness’ handicap and exercise programme to improve their overall golf fitness.

Additional Assessment

Golf AutoScore™ Statistics tracks and analyses a golfer’s entire golf game (e.g. average score, green in regulation, putts per round, up & down percentages, etc) in the easiest way possible. The system highlights strengths and weaknesses so that the golfer can see what areas that they need to improve on, and track personal improvement.

Short Game Skills Testing involves undertaking a series of short game 12 tests.  After completing the tests you will be given a ‘Short Game Handicap’.  These stats can be compared with PGA Tour Players and used to track personal improvement. ·

Nutrition

Food Diaries are given to pupils for them to record down what they have had to eat and drink over a particular period of time.  The dairies are forwarded to a nutritionist who provides information and recommendations on how each pupil can improve their nutrition.

This is the centre of the Junior Golf Academy’s operation, housing the main office, golfers’ lounge, kitchen and video suite. Some sessions e.g. mental game coaching and video analysis, will take place here and it is also the focal point for getting together on a social basis.

TPI fitness suite

Specific golf fitness is a vital, yet often overlooked, part of any successful training regime.

The Titleist Performance Institute is a programme designed specifically to place players of all ages and abilities, through a complete array of tests usually reserved for the best golfers in the world.

By assessing a “total picture” of your body, swing, and equipment, our qualified coaches will recommend a program that will seamlessly integrate into your existing PGA professional's instruction to help you optimize your performance. Utilizing our physical screening process, within our own purpose designed fitness suite, we measure your ability to generate and transfer speed and determine the most efficient energy transfer throughout your body.

The TPI suite is the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland and has been very successful in putting individuals and teams on the right track to improve their golf fitness. It forms an integral part of the full time programme and is also included in all part time programmes. It is also available for individuals and groups to book directly, or as part of a lerger golf package.
